As an accompaniment to Land Forces 2026, the Australia-New Zealand Chapter of the Association of Old Crows (AOC ANZ) will hold an open General Meeting on Tuesday 6 October 2026 at ANZAC House, 28 St George's Terrace, Perth.
The General Meeting is a networking opportunity for attendees at Land Forces 2026, and other parties with interests relating to the AOC's mission as the global professional body for EW, cyber operations, and information warfare professionals.

Topic: Repurposing the Radio Sky for Defence in the Contested Space Domain
Abstract: Radio astronomy is curiosity-led science, demanding extraordinary sensitivity and scale while adapting to an increasingly congested RF environment. At the Curtin University node of the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR), we translate these technologies and techniques into Defence-applicable capabilities for the increasingly contested space domain. This presentation covers three examples: low-cost ionospheric characterisation supporting over-the-horizon radar such as JORN; a 24/7 all-sky passive space situational awareness facility developed with Nova Systems for tracking resident space objects; and the fusion of optical and radio sensing to detect and characterise re-entry events.
About Dr Martin Blake
Dr Martin Blake is a research academic at the Curtin University node of ICRAR in Perth, Western Australia. Specialising in radio frequency (RF) engineering, hardware and simulation, he develops RF systems for a range of defence applications, with a focus on alternative positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) that reduces dependence on vulnerable satellite signals such as GPS. Before joining Curtin, Martin worked at the United Kingdom's Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl), bringing an international perspective to translating advanced science into sovereign capability.
